Friends of Murray Park School
Lynda Hance, Treasurer of Friends of Murray Park School, which received £2500, said: “Thank you so much for your email and your tremendous support! This will make all the difference to us being able to set up with confidence that we can check, train and ‘uniform’ our volunteers. When we first thought of setting up the Junior Parkrun, we thought it was a once a month activity, but the Parkrun UK people require us to hold it weekly – every Sunday morning at 09:00am. My heart sank a little at the logistics of that as that’s a big commitment for volunteers (& we have to have at least 10 at each event). But then I thought maybe we can recruit more – say, 50 – and put them on a monthly or 5-weekly rota, which of course comes with more cost in the DBS checks, training & hiviz, so your extremely thoughtful help has taken a weight off my shoulders in that respect.”
